CAD/CAE Enhancements for Precision Design

Zuken continues to refine the CAD/CAE capabilities within Harness Builder for E3.series. One key improvement addressed the problem of adding predefined cable lengths. The co-pilot allows the user to enter a predefined length and then freely draw that length around curves or along straight paths on the formboard sheet while maintaining the length. This ensures:

  • More realistic cable routing for better space allocation and manufacturability.
  • Improved accuracy in cutting lengths to minimize material waste.
  • Seamless updates to BOMs and production documentation.

Built for Ease of Use

Recognizing that harness manufacturers may not have the same CAD expertise as the product design engineers or have the time to train on and learn complicated interfaces, Zuken has emphasized an intuitive user experience. The tool provides:

  • Concise, easy-to-locate functions for rapid adoption.
  • Built-in training resources, including pictures, videos, and online help.
  • Hotline support and a robust online user community.

One of the key features of the product is that it does not require or force the harness manufacturer to create a schematic to create a harness. Still, it does offer a schematic dynamically created from the harness after it has been drawn.

The single-object technology of E3.series makes it flexible enough for a design engineer or a harness manufacturer to detail the same drawing sets and have a sense of comfort that all views of the same information are updated automatically at the same time. So, if a connector is added to a schematic, it will also be present on the formboard, and if a wire is added to the harness, it will appear in the schematic. It also means that bills of materials and detailed wire-cutting information are always in sync.

Harness Builder for E3.series can function as a standalone tool for individual users or as a multi-user enterprise application, making it flexible for both small businesses and large-scale manufacturing operations.

A Smarter Approach to Wire Harness Manufacturing
