Industry’s only zero-waste cable tie application tool
MILWAUKEE – HellermannTyton’s new ATS Flex is a fully automated cable tie application tool that succeeds and replaces the ATS3080. Highlights include a large bundle diameter capacity and a zero-waste system that eliminates cut-offs that otherwise end up in landfills. The ATS Flex is ready to ship.
Traditional cable tie applications often result in surplus material – the cable tie tail – being cut off and discarded. As harness shops and assemblers look for additional ways to reduce their carbon footprint, the ATS Flex offers a first-of-its-kind alternative. Using a continuous tie reel; the tool’s jaws dynamically detect the bundle diameter and dispense only what is needed. The strap is then tensioned and secured with a separate connector. This means no plastic waste.
“As application tools are a major product group for us,” said Product Manager Jamison Soya, “we frequently task our engineers with imagining what’s next. The ATS Flex represents the latest tool in our offerings to benefit from a front-to-back analysis in the name of enhanced efficiency and value for our customers.”
The ATS Flex is capable of processing large-diameter bundles – up to 100 mm – and ships with three jaw sizes. This new-generation ATS delivers an accelerated cycle time: 0.95 – 1.80 seconds depending on bundle diameter, which is 25 percent faster than its predecessor. Electronics have been revised also, resulting in improved consistency.
Kits are available to adapt the tool for bench applications or for suspending overhead to reduce its relative weight.
Target applications include large cable and tube runs and packaging operations, such as a closure for large polybags.
